Partners In Mission Nicaragua Fund

PARTNERS IN MISSION NICARAGUA FUND The Partners In Mission Nicaragua Fund supports the ministry of a lay catholic group and a religious congregation of the Charles de Foucauld families in Nicaragua. Charles de Foucauld is a recently beatified saint. His spirituality has inspired thousands of people of all faiths to “return to the Gospel” and his testimony speaks profoundly to every day ordinary people. The Partners In Mission Nicaragua Fund was created by Patrick Duffy, Jr. and family members, in memory of his father Patrick Duffy Sr. In his lifetime Patrick Duffy Sr. was a man of honesty and integrity who taught his children to "keep the faith" and “to trust in the Providence of God”. Through the creation of the Partners In Mission Nicaragua Fund, the followers of Brother Charles de Foucauld in Nicaragua will be enabled to promote his mission and spirituality for generations to come. The long term goal of the Partners In Mission Nicaragua Fund is to create a lasting partnership in Mission between faith filled Christians of the United States and the people of Nicaragua. Through an inter exchange of sharing faith and support the Partners In Mission Nicaragua Fund will improve the lives of the poor and will enrich the faith life of many Nicaraguan people and those who support this Fund. The activities the Partners In Mission Nicaragua Fund supports are: 1. Community organizing and local development programs. 2. Lay pastoral ministry through faith, spiritual, pastoral, biblical formation courses and workshops in a Catholic and Ecumenical perspective. 3. Mentoring and enabling young Nicaraguans from poor areas to improve their lives and the living conditions of their people. 4. Scholarships for cross-cultural religious and educational programs. The mission of the Charles de Foucauld fraternities in Nicaragua seeks to share the Good News, above all, by living and witnessing their faith in the midst of the poor: teaching Gospel values and building up the body of Christ by hard work, forming small Christian Communities and sharing the life of the poor, as Jesus did in his life in Nazareth: befriending the excluded from society, visiting the sick, fostering peace and working for justice, ministering to the handicapped and to those who need support and encouragement.
